EMDR Therapy
EMDR helps you process traumatic memories that keep pulling you back toward substance use. At SPR Detox, it's a core part of many treatment plans, working alongside your other therapies. You'll use guided eye movements to reduce the grip old experiences have on how you feel now.
How EMDR Therapy Works in Treatment
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and it targets the memories that keep pulling you back toward using. In a session, a clinician guides you through short bursts of side-to-side eye movements or taps while you hold a difficult memory in mind. Over time, that memory loses its grip. It stops firing the same panic, shame, or craving.
EMDR helps with trauma, anxiety, and the triggers tied to substance use. Your licensed clinician builds it into your full treatment plan and adjusts the pace as you get stronger, not on a fixed schedule.
